Satsang is a way to gather in remembrance of the Divine. It is also an opportunity to establish a deeper connection to the Light within us and absorb ourselves in peace and bliss. Such a religious event was organized at Ram Mandir Lal Kurti Rawalpindi, West Punjab on Sunday, May 21st 2023 around 5: 00pm.

Local Hindu Community actively participating in Satsang

The event was organized under Panchanada, an organization which serves the purpose of reclaiming the sacred land of Punjab. Many people from the local Hindu community of Rawalpindi took an active part in the occasion.

Local Hindu Sangat engaged in Bhajan

The event included a series of spiritual chanting and Kirtan from Bhagwat Geeta delivered by the native Pandits. Bhajans were sung by the devotees, being an essential part of the puja and rituals.

The Satsang started at 5:00pm in the evening with Ganesh stuti followed by Prarthna and dharmic Katha from puranas by Pandit Niamat currently serving as a pujari at Katas Raj Temple. Pandit ji shed light on the necessity of Satsang in a Sanatani’s life and declared it as a food for the soul. He laid stress upon the prominence of chanting the Gayatri Mantra on daily basis. He further quoted that, “Service and Respect to one’s parents is the only essence of Dharma and it leads to Moksha upon death”. He further emphasized upon Parents’ respect by telling the youth that, “Bhagavan wants us to serve our parents, because they are His direct representatives for us on earth, which is a way to worship Him”.

Pandit Rakesh Chand Revealing Punjab as Sanatana Dharma Janmabhoomi

The religious gathering proceeded with the devotional speech by Pandit Rakesh Chand, who is the Chairman Sanatana Dharma Rawalpindi, West Punjab. Pandit Rakesh explained the history of Punjab and expressed his views about the relevance between the mentioned land and Dharma. He declared Punjab a sacred land for the Sanatanis stating that, “Punjab is the holy land which has its roots deeply connected to Sanatana Dharma, as the sacred land was known as Sapta Sindhu in the great Hindu epic Mahabharata”. Thus, he focused upon the desire of preserving the Hindu heritage of Punjab.

Mr. Anwar Rajput emphasizing upon Parents to keep the young minds’ connected with Dharma

During the occasion, President Hindu Panchayat Rawalpindi and chief organizer of the event, Mr. Anwar Rajput credited the Pandits for serving the good cause and expressed his gratitude towards Panchanada forum saying that, “Besides adults and elderly, attending the Satsang is extremely essential for the young generation as it will enlighten the young minds to stay connected to their roots”. Moreover, he insisted that offering Sandhya, Puja and Archana are mandatory. Furthermore, he stated that, “It’s obligatory for the mothers to send their children to the Temple to learn Hindi Bhasha which will equip the youth to have a thorough understanding of Hindu scriptures that are available only in Hindi script”.

After the Ardas, Prasad was offered to the devotees and the sangat enjoyed a delicious Langar. The event ended around 11:00 pm at night. The Hindu community attending the event, expressed their acknowledgment for having an opportunity to get engaged in a religious activity which served the cause in its true spirit.

Panchanada is a global Hindu initiative for restoration and revival of classical culture of Punjab. Panchanada Forum was recently launched by Komal Chanda along with several other activists. Komal Chanda said on the occasion that whole of Punjab, West and East, the sacred land of five rivers, is the birthplace of Sanatana Dharma, whose culture has long been lost in colonial and post-colonial developments. She added that Panchanada Forum provides a platform to the global Hindu community, specifically those with historic Punjabi heritage, to rediscover their own roots in the soil of Punjab, and reshape Punjab’s identity as Panchanada.
